Carbine I (Fundamentals)

This is your carbine fundamentals course. Students are required to bring their rifle sight system’s user manual. Topics include:

  • Rifle Action & Handling

  • Muzzle Management

  • Trigger/Safety Selector Discipline 

  • Loading & Unloading

  • The Zeroing Process

  • Intro to External Ballistics

  • Vision Principles 

  • Grip/Mounting Principles

  • Intro to Mechanical Offset

Training Duration: (8) Hours.

Required gear: carbines ONLY, two-point sling, at least (2) rifle magazines, at least (1) magazine holder, ear & eye protection, durable outer wear, rain coat, lunch, and water.

Carbine II (manipulations)

This is your carbine manipulations course. We recommend students complete Carbine I (or its equivalent elsewhere) prior to this course. Sight system(s) must be zeroed prior to arriving for training. Topics include:

  • Sling Management

  • Mechanical Offset

  • Ready Positions

  • Reloads (Can v. Must)

  • Recognizing Stoppages

  • Fixing Stoppages

  • “2-in-2” Ready-Up Standard

Training Duration: (8) Hours.

Required gear: carbines ONLY, rifle sling, at least (2) rifle magazines, at least (1) magazine pouch, ear & eye protection, durable outer wear, rain coat, lunch, and water.

Carbine III (Performance)

This is your carbine performance course. We recommend students complete Carbine II (or an equivalent elsewhere) prior to this course. Sight system(s) must be zeroed prior to arriving for training. Topics include:

  • Musculoskeletal Mechanics

  • Training Priorities: Vision & Mount

  • Shooting Aggressively Fast

  • Predictive v. Reactive Shooting

  • Sight Picture Spectrum

  • Multiple Targets

  • Improving Performance

  • Self-Diagnosing: Why We Miss

  • How to Dry Practice

Training Duration: (8) Hours.

Required gear: carbines ONLY, rifle sling, at least (3) rifle magazines, at least (2) magazine pouches, ear & eye protection, durable outer wear, rain coat, lunch, and water.

Carbine IV (mobility)

This is your carbine mobility course. It’s recommended students complete Carbine & Pistol III (or their equivalents elsewhere) prior to taking this course. Topics include:

  • Training Priorities: Vision, Mount, & Mobility

  • Running with the Gun

  • Moving to Shoot

  • Shooting While Moving

  • Carbine/Pistol Transitions

  • Loading & Shooting From Cover

  • Positional Shooting

Training Duration: (8) Hours.

Required gear: carbine, semi-auto pistol, IWB or OWB holster (with at least GOOD passive retention), two-point sling, at least (3) carbine magazines (with holders), at least (2) pistol magazines (with holders), ear & eye protection, durable outer wear, rain jacket, lunch, and water.

Estimated round count: 500 Carbine; 150 Pistol.

Carbine capstone (assessment)

This is your carbine assessment. The Capstone measures the shooter’s ability to apply carbine fundamentals against our standards.

This Capstone tests and ultimately develops the following shooting-related skills:

  • Vision

  • Mount

  • Recoil Management

  • Manipulating the Carbine

  • Engaging Multiple Targets

  • Carbine/Pistol Transitions

  • Moving to Shoot

  • Shooting While Moving

Schedule:

  • Day 1 Morning: Pre-Assessment

  • Day 1 Afternoon: Training Session I

  • Day 2 Morning: Training Session II

  • Day 2 Afternoon: Final Assessment

Training Duration: (16) Hours.

Required gear: carbine, semi-auto pistol, IWB or OWB holster, two-point sling, at least (3) carbine magazines (with holders), at least (2) pistol magazines (with holders), ear & eye protection, durable outer wear, rain jacket, lunch, and water.

Estimated Round Count: 750 Carbine/150 Pistol.
